Programme Overview

The Fire Fighting Learnership is a structured learning program combining on-the-job experience with institutional learning. This program is designed to provide practical experience and training to equip candidates for a career in firefighting.

Key Responsibilities

• Training Participation: Actively engage in all learning modules and complete all assessments.
• Readiness Activities: Participate in readiness exercises, including physical fitness and safety preparedness.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Completed National Senior Certificate or equivalent, with a pass in:
  • Technical Mathematics/Mathematics
  • English/Business English
  • Technical/Physical Science (preferred)
• Driver’s License: Valid Code B license
• Fitness Requirements: Ability to pass:
  • Stress and fear assessments (heights, confined spaces, fire exposure)
  • Firefighter fitness assessment

Core Elements of the Program

• Successful completion of the assessment process.
• Engagement in workplace readiness and required exercises.
