Introduction

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for experienced Cashiers to join the team at their various stores. This role supports customer service at the point of sale, delivering a world-class shopping experience and ensuring accurate transaction recording in line with Dis-Chem’s standards and policies.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 / Matric
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 months in cashier/till operations
  • Skills:
    • Computer literate (MS Office)
    • Sound numerical skills
    • Proficient in English (written and spoken)
    • Basic customer service skills
    • Willingness to work retail hours

 



 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and maintain professional relationships with customers.
  • Process all customer transactions accurately, ensuring compliance with policies to prevent fraud.
  • Handle customer payments and loyalty card transactions efficiently.
  • Ensure cash flow security and adhere to Dis-Chem’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage merchandise exchanges, returns, and store promotions as authorized.
  • Report any suspicious behavior, customer complaints, or compliments to management.
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of daily cash takings and till operations.

 



 

 

Competencies

  • Knowledge of cash register operations and cash drawer maintenance
  • Proficiency in sales transactions, refunds, and payments
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong time management skills
  • Trustworthy, honest, and socially aware
  • Advantageous: Knowledge of a third language

  • Willingness to work retail hours and possess reliable transport
  • South African citizenship
