Introduction

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is offering a position for a Personnel Practitioner to support recruitment and HR administration processes across the district. The successful candidate will manage HR operations, provide guidance to management, and ensure efficient and effective HRM policy implementation.

Minimum Requirements

• Senior Certificate (or equivalent)
• Valid Code B/EB driver’s license with willingness to travel within Garden Route and Central Karoo Districts
• Appropriate experience in People Management, PERSAL, and E-Recruiting system

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment and selection processes, including advertising posts and processing pay progressions
• Support DOTS verifications, salary determination, and performance management processes
• Facilitate training and act as helpdesk for Permis in Sub Districts
• Assist Moderating Committees in performance management oversight
• Implement and maintain HR policies and procedures
• Manage PERSAL transactions related to personnel provisioning and salary administration
• Offer guidance to management and staff on employment practices
• Provide general support to supervisors and colleagues

 

 

 

 

Skills & Competencies

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in MS Office, MS Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint
• In-depth knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and practices

Salary and Benefits

• Annual salary plus benefits, including a 13th cheque, pension fund contributions, housing, and medical aid allowance
