YDE Designer Position
Introduction
YDE (Young Designers Emporium) is searching for fresh and emerging fashion designers looking to establish their labels in a prominent retail setting. This opportunity is ideal for designers who want to showcase their brand exclusively at YDE and are prepared to meet certain requirements for branding, manufacturing, and distribution.

Key Responsibilities
- Exclusive Brand Presence:
- All merchandise with your designer label will be exclusively sold at YDE.
- Designers must register their brand or label as a trademark upon joining YDE.
- Manufacturing Standards:
- All clothing must be locally manufactured in South Africa. However, imports for specific categories (e.g., denim, knitwear) may be permitted with YDE’s prior approval. Footwear, accessories, bags, and jewelry may also be imported.
- Distribution and Consignment:
- Merchandise will be distributed to YDE stores on a consignment basis. Designers are paid for their total sales, minus costs, at the end of each trading month.
- Financial Requirements:
- Designers need to secure adequate funding to support their collections for YDE as YDE does not purchase stock directly.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Relevant tertiary qualification in fashion.
- Experience: Prior experience in a fashion retail environment is advantageous.
