Role Overview

SPAR is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Inventory Manager to join its team. This role involves overseeing inventory activities, maintaining accurate records, minimizing discrepancies, and aligning stock management with the organization’s business goals.

Location: KwaZulu-Natal
Industry: Wholesale & Retail Trade
Contract: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily inventory operations, ensuring accurate stock levels.
  • Develop and implement procedures to reduce stock discrepancies, wastage, and losses.
  • Lead inventory audits, cycle counts, and reconciliations to maintain data integrity.
  • Maintain and optimize inventory tracking systems, ensuring departmental integration.
  • Generate reports on stock levels, turnover rates, and stock performance for management insights.
  • Address slow-moving or obsolete inventory with corrective actions in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Optimize warehouse space for efficient storage and accessibility.
  • Manage and mentor the inventory team, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance reviews and address training needs.
  • Implement disciplinary and grievance procedures in compliance with legislation.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance in inventory handling and storage.
  • Proactively manage inventory-related risks and implement corrective measures.
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by management.

 



 

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Degree/National Diploma or Certificate in Logistics Management or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years in an inventory management role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in SAP-EWM and MS Office.
    • Understanding of SPAR warehouse processes and systems (preferred).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
    • Goal-oriented, analytical, and proactive approach.
    • Ability to independently resolve operational issues.
    • Customer service orientation with relationship-building skills.
  • Work Conditions:
    • High stress tolerance and flexibility.
    • Willingness to work after hours, weekends, and multitask across functions.
