Introduction

Sibanye-Stillwater is seeking skilled and qualified Miners General to join the team at the B KND Kopaneng Shaft. The role requires a dynamic individual capable of maintaining a safe work environment, adhering to legal and corporate standards, and ensuring mining operations are executed efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Education:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Valid Blasting Certificate with Trackless experience.

Experience:

  • 2–3 years of mining experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Medically fit to perform duties in mining operations.
  • Clear security screening record.

 



 

 

Key Responsibilities

Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE)

  • Maintain and monitor compliance with SHE standards in the workplace.
  • Participate in risk assessments and implement corrective measures.
  • Conduct Safety Behaviour Observations (SBOs) and incident investigations.

Mining Operations

  • Supervise mining teams and processes while ensuring all activities align with safety and operational standards.
  • Perform start-of-day and start-of-shift preparations, including equipment checks and team briefings.
  • Manage blasting operations, including marking, drilling, charging, and initiating blasts.
  • Ensure safe removal of broken rock and oversee cleaning and sweeping activities.

Support Operations

  • Monitor and control underground construction, ventilation, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure proper secondary blasting to remove blockages.

Administrative Duties

  • Complete shift handover procedures and log daily activities in communication and miners’ logbooks.
  • Submit gang cards and reports accurately.

  • Proficiency in underground mining practices, including blasting and safety protocols.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
