Introduction

Sibanye-Stillwater is looking for experienced and qualified Miners General to join our Platinum Rustenburg operations at B KND Kopaneng Shaft. The role involves supervising, monitoring, and ensuring safe and effective mining operations while adhering to SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) standards and corporate governance.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

• Education:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Valid Blasting Certificate (Trackless experience required).
• Experience:
  • 2–3 years of mining experience.
• Additional Requirements:
  • Valid first aid certificate.
  • Medically fit to work in specific business areas.
  • Clear security screening record.

Key Responsibilities

Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE)

• Maintain and monitor SHE standards within the work environment.
• Participate in risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct safety behavior observations and participate in incident investigations.

Mining Operations

• Supervise and monitor mining teams and activities, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
• Conduct start-of-day and start-of-shift preparation, including roll-call and equipment checks.
• Manage blasting operations, including marking, drilling, charging, and blasting processes.
• Ensure safe removal of broken rock, cleaning, and sweeping operations.
• Monitor development activities, underground construction, and tramming operations.

Support Operations

• Ensure proper ventilation system installation and maintenance.
• Conduct secondary blasting to remove blockages as needed.
• Monitor and control housekeeping and underground maintenance activities.

Administrative Duties

• Complete shift hand-over procedures and update communication logbooks with daily activities, issues, and instructions.
• Submit gang cards and reports at the end of each shift.

• Proficient in underground mining practices, including blasting, support, and safety protocols.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to identify and respond to mining-related risks.
