Introduction
The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is seeking Linen Stores Assistants (Laundry and Linen Services) to join the team at Lentegeur Hospital. The department is committed to Employment Equity, and candidates with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Remuneration
- R138,486 per annum
- Includes service benefits: 13th cheque, pension fund contributions, housing and medical aid allowance.
Minimum Requirements
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Relevant experience in handling linen in a healthcare environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily collection of dirty, fouled, and infected linen from wards to the linen bank.
- Delivery of clean linen to wards.
- Sorting, counting, and sluicing of dirty linen before transfer to the Central Laundry.
- Issuing, unpacking, and checking clean linen daily.
- Maintaining high cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Supporting the supervisor in linen management.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to perform hard physical tasks, including lifting heavy linen bags.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures and correct linen handling methods.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, public holidays, and after-hours as required.
Additional Information
- Candidates may be subjected to written, practical, and oral assessments.
- The pool of applicants may be considered for similar roles within Metro Health Services for 3 months after the advert closes.
