Job Overview

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is seeking a dedicated Cleaner for Diazville Community Day Centre (CDC) in the Saldanha Sub-District. The successful candidate will contribute to a clean and safe environment by performing general cleaning, waste management, and linen handling duties.

Location: Saldanha Sub-District, West Coast District, Western Cape
Position Type: Permanent
Salary: R131,265 – R154,626 per annum (includes 13th cheque, pension, housing, and medical aid allowance)

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, and maintaining clinic grounds.
• Support Waste Management, including the correct disposal of refuse and waste products.
• Provide clean linen to consultation rooms and manage soiled linen.
• Safely store and use cleaning materials and equipment.
• Ensure adherence to safety precautions and occupational health and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience: Appropriate cleaning experience.
• Skills: Basic literacy and numeracy.
• Physical Abilities: Able to lift/move heavy objects and operate machinery.
• Knowledge: Understanding of correct refuse handling and cleaning practices.

• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact well with colleagues and management.
