Operations Controller

Introduction

Grindrod Multi-Purpose Terminals is seeking an experienced Operations Controller to oversee the efficient movement of cargo, ensure compliance with health and safety standards, and maintain terminal operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and facilitate the movement of cargo to and from ships, trucks, and storage facilities.
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of terminal facilities.
• Effectively respond to emergencies and operational disruptions.
• Maintain detailed and accurate operational logs and records.
• Collaborate with Terminal Supervisors and other departments to improve operations.

Minimum Requirements

• Qualifications: Diploma or equivalent experience in operations, logistics, or related field.
• Experience: Prior experience as a Terminal Controller or a similar role within the freight industry.
• Skills:
  • Strong operational skills, including the ability to troubleshoot cargo issues.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Physical capability to work in demanding conditions and varying weather.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends as needed.
