Introduction

The Department of Health and Wellness in the Western Cape is offering a permanent position for a qualified Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) at the Delft Community Health Centre, under the Chief Directorate of Metro Health Services.

Job Description

The successful candidate will assist with various pharmacy functions, including:

  • Reading and preparing prescriptions, selecting, compounding, and labelling medicine following evaluation by a pharmacist.
  • Providing instructions on correct medicine use and health information.
  • Managing distribution, control, and ordering of medicine and scheduled substances.
  • Compounding and manufacturing non-sterile and sterile medicines as per approved procedures.
  • Completing general pharmacy work and related administrative tasks.

 



 

 

 

Requirements

  • Registration: Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) in the Institutional category.
  • Qualifications: Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification permitting SAPC registration.
  • Experience:
    • Grade 1: No experience needed after SAPC registration.
    • Grade 2: 5+ years as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic).
    • Grade 3: 13+ years as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic).
  • Skills: Strong MS Office skills, team-oriented, capable of independent work, and able to handle high-pressure environments.
