Introduction

The Western Cape Mobility Department is seeking qualified candidates for two Accounting Clerk positions in Debt Management. This role is based in Maitland, Western Cape and offers a great opportunity to support financial and administrative functions within the government sector.

Position Details

Job Purpose

The selected candidates will assist in financial and administrative tasks related to billing and revenue administration, including handling debtor management and audit-related queries.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with Accounting as a passed subject

Recommended Experience

  • Previous relevant work experience in financial or administrative support roles is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer all aspects of billing and revenue collection
  • Maintain the customer database
  • Oversee monthly kilometre readings of vehicles
  • Handle debtors’ administration, audit queries, and financial reporting
  • Prepare revenue administration reports and contribute to annual financial reports

Competencies and Skills

  • Knowledge: Financial and administrative practices, customer service, data capture, computer operations, GMT policies, SOPs, National and Provincial Treasury regulations, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
  • Skills: Computer proficiency, organizational and financial reporting, leadership, problem-solving, conflict resolution, analytical thinking, strong verbal and written communication, numerical aptitude

Remuneration and Benefits

  • Annual Salary: R 216,417.00 (Salary Level 5)
  • Additional Benefits: Medical assistance, housing assistance, and pension-fund contributions are available according to applicable regulations.
