Artisan Assistant
Introduction
The Western Cape Government, Department of Health and Wellness, is seeking an Artisan Assistant for maintenance and handyman tasks. Requirements
- Education: Grade 10 or equivalent
- Experience: Basic experience in workshop tasks and handyman activities such as painting, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work.
- Skills: Knowledge in carpentry, electrical and mechanical tasks, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, painting, tiling, and general handyman skills.
- Driver’s License: Valid Code B driver’s license
- Other: Willingness to work overtime and perform physically demanding labor
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintenance tasks like painting, unblocking plumbing systems, and basic repairs.
- Support installation, modification, and repair of equipment and machinery under the supervision of an Artisan.
- Conduct light electrical repairs and installations.
- Complete basic administrative tasks, such as filling out job cards.
- Transport goods as needed.
Competencies and Knowledge
- Basic Knowledge: Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Skills: General repair and maintenance, ability to perform tasks independently under supervision.
Salary and Benefits
- Annual Salary: R183,279 – R215,892
- Additional Benefits: 13th cheque, employer pension contribution, housing, and medical aid allowance.
