Introduction

The Department of Health and Wellness in the Western Cape is hiring Nursing Assistants in the Obstetrics Department at George Regional Hospital. Minimum Requirements

  • Educational Qualifications: Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant.
  • Experience Levels by Grade:
    • Grade 1: No experience required.
    • Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years of appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after SANC registration as a Nursing Assistant.
    • Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years of appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after SANC registration as a Nursing Assistant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily living activities and provide elementary clinical nursing care.
  • Utilize physical and financial resources effectively.
  • Maintain professional growth and uphold ethical standards.

 



 

 

Competencies

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with nursing legislation, policies, and protocols relevant to the Western Cape Health Department.

Salary and Benefits

  • Grade 1: R165,177 – R188,865 per annum
  • Grade 2: R192,675 – R218,667 per annum
  • Grade 3: R227,070 – R283,347 per annum
  • Additional Benefits: 13th cheque, pension fund contributions, housing, and medical aid allowance.

 



 

 

Additional Notes

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, overtime, standby, and rotate within departments if needed.
