Supervisor Handyman
Introduction
eThekwini Municipality’s Electricity division in Durban is seeking a Supervisor Handyman for semi-skilled operations in outdoor lighting repair. This role reports to the Superintendent (Electrical) and involves direct oversight of lighting repair tasks and support for lighting electricians.

Working Conditions
- 40-hour, 5-day week with potential for afternoon shifts and overtime.
- Required to wear protective clothing, including overalls, raincoat, protective shoes, and hard hat.
Job Purpose
- To perform semi-skilled tasks in outdoor lighting repair, maintenance, and general support to ensure efficient lighting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform street lighting repairs and general maintenance.
- Support lighting electricians.
- Conduct stock control and general administration.
- Supervise and manage staff, promoting safety in the workplace.

Essential Requirements
- Education: Grade 10 or equivalent.
- Licenses: Valid motor vehicle driving license (Code C1 or EC), valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP), and competency in operating heavy plant and equipment (or to be obtained within 6 months).
- Experience: 3 years in driving heavy-duty vehicles, operating hydraulic vehicle-mounted cranes, and handling towing and securing loads.
