Introduction

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is inviting applications for the position of Driver (Light Duty Vehicle) at Oudtshoorn Hospital. We are guided by Employment Equity principles and encourage candidates with disabilities to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport goods, packages, equipment, medicine, and personnel.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of vehicles, ensuring defects are reported.
  • Complete administrative duties related to GG vehicles, including accurate logbook entries.
  • Provide effective support to supervisors and colleagues, including performing ad-hoc tasks.

 



 

 

Requirements

  • Experience: Relevant experience in transporting personnel and goods, particularly in a health facility setup.
  • Education: Basic literacy and numeracy.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and defect inspection.
    • Ability to read and comprehend traffic signs and road directions.
    • Good interpersonal skills and accountability for assigned work.
    • Physical fitness to lift and load heavy items.
  • Licenses:
    • Valid Code B/EB Driver’s License.
    • Valid Public Driving Permit (PDP).
  • Other:
    • Willingness to perform standby duties and work overtime, including weekends and public holidays.

 



 

 

Remuneration

Salary: R131,265 – R154,626 per annum
Includes service benefits such as:

  • 13th cheque
  • Employer’s contribution to pension fund
  • Housing and medical aid allowance

 



 

 

Additional Information

  • Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete a practical test.
  • Candidates will be subjected to competency checks, including security clearance, qualification verification, and criminal record checks.

    • Driver’s License
