Introduction

Rand Water is seeking a dedicated Workshop Stores Assistant (Civil) to assist the Assistant Building Foreman in maintaining buildings and civil works and managing the Civil section stores. This role is key to ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of workshop materials, tools, and equipment.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 certificate.
• Experience: 2 years of relevant experience as an Artisan Assistant or in a workshop environment.
• License: Valid Code EB driver’s license and ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 driver test.
• Training: Basic safety and fire extinguisher training.

 

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain material and stock levels.
• Ensure the security and proper record-keeping of materials and spares.
• Draw and issue tools, materials, and equipment to Artisans as needed.
• Keep stores organized, neat, and clean.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and ensure the security of allocated tools and equipment.
• Safely operate workshop machines and report health and safety defects.
• Inspect portable electrical tools, hand tools, and fire extinguishers regularly.
• Assist with building maintenance tasks such as:
  • Repairing/replacing door locks and cupboard locks.
  • Fixing notice boards and broken window panes.
  • Performing patchwork plastering, minor brickwork, and mixing concrete/mortar.
  • Finishing off building work.
• Ensure general housekeeping duties are completed effectively.
