Introduction

The Department of Social Development, Western Cape Government is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registry Clerk: Logistical Services to join the team in the Cape Winelands/Overberg Region. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing efficient and organized registry services to support departmental operations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) or equivalent qualification.

Recommendation

  • A valid Code B (or higher) driver’s license is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Registry Counter Services
    • Assist clients with registry-related inquiries.
    • Handle telephonic and in-person inquiries efficiently.
    • Receive and register hand-delivered mail and files.
  • Incoming and Outgoing Correspondence
    • Receive, sort, register, and dispatch mail.
    • Distribute notices on registry matters.
  • Filing and Records Management
    • Open and close files according to the classification system.
    • Ensure proper filing, storage, and retrieval of documents.
    • Maintain index cards for all files.
  • Office Machine Operations
    • Operate machines relevant to registry functions.
    • Open and maintain the franking machine register.
  • Archiving and Disposal
    • Scan, sort, and package files for archives or disposal.

    • Data capturing and computer operation.
    • Legislative framework governing the Public Service.
    • Proper document storage and retrieval procedures.

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Annual Salary: R216,417 (Salary Level 5).
