The Gauteng Department of Health is seeking a Cleaner Supervisor to oversee cleaning operations at Cullinan Care & Rehabilitation Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising cleaning staff, ensuring compliance with cleaning standards, managing cleaning resources, and maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Supervise and manage cleaning personnel
  • Ensure high cleaning standards are maintained throughout the facility
  • Allocate daily duties and work schedules to cleaning staff
  • Train cleaners on cleaning procedures and standards
  • Monitor staff performance and compliance with cleaning schedules
  • Conduct daily inspections and walkabouts
  • Report incidents, challenges, and operational issues to management
  • Ensure quality control measures are consistently maintained
  • Manage leave, overtime claims, and performance management processes
  • Compile weekly and monthly reports
  • Order, receive, and safely store cleaning materials
  • Manage cleaning chemicals and equipment
  • Issue cleaning supplies to staff on a daily basis
  • Schedule preventative maintenance for cleaning equipment
  • Conduct monthly meetings with cleaning staff
  • Attend relevant departmental meetings
  • Implement disciplinary procedures when required
  • Perform additional duties as delegated by management

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have either:

  • Grade 10 (Standard 8) plus 5 years of relevant cleaning experience

OR

  • Grade 12 (Matric/Standard 10) plus 2 years of relevant cleaning experience

  • Leadership and supervisory skills

  • Understanding of cleaning equipment and machinery
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations
  • Understanding of Infection Prevention and Control processes
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to monitor quality standards
  • Strong administrative and reporting skills

Working Conditions
