Principal Clerk
eThekwini Municipality is inviting applications for the position of Principal Clerk within the Customer Services Division. The successful candidate will provide customer service and administrative support in line with Batho Pele principles while assisting residents with municipal service enquiries, applications, complaints, and information requests. Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Assisting customers with municipal service enquiries, complaints, and requests
- Providing information regarding municipal services and procedures
- Receiving and processing applications for vending permits from street traders
- Processing business licence applications relating to food handling, entertainment, and hawking activities
- Verifying and scrutinising submitted applications and supporting documents
- Performing general administrative duties, including filing and record management
- Maintaining customer service literature and information resources
- Completing and updating transactional management registers daily
- Ensuring accurate record keeping and data capturing
- Performing related duties as required by the department
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
- Computer literacy
Preferred Requirements
The following will be advantageous:
- Administrative Certificate
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
- Previous customer service or municipal administration experience

Salary and Benefits
Remuneration: R232,438.20 – R301,728.48 per annum
