Butchery Supervisor

SPAR Group Ltd is seeking a skilled and motivated Butchery Supervisor to oversee daily butchery operations. This role focuses on driving sales and profitability, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring efficient stock and production management within the department.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Supervise butchery operations to meet sales and profitability targets
• Set and manage stock levels per product category
• Ensure correct product range is available at the right time
• Maintain stock availability for key value items
• Record and manage stock transfers accurately
• Conduct price checks and ensure competitive pricing
• Ensure correct product packaging standards
• Maintain high hygiene and food safety standards
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
• Manage customer orders and resolve complaints

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12)
• 1–3 years’ experience in a butchery supervisory role
• Retail or business management qualification (advantageous)

• Strong decision-making and assertiveness
• Good communication skills
• Ability to build relationships with staff and customers
• High level of integrity
• Strong numerical skills

Inherent Job Requirements

• Willingness to work irregular hours based on operational needs
• Valid South African driver’s licence
• Own reliable transport
• Willingness to relocate if required

Working Conditions

• Retail butchery environment
• May require weekend and extended trading hours
