SPAR Group Ltd is seeking a qualified Maintenance Foreman to join its Lowveld Distribution Centre in Nelspruit. This role involves leading a maintenance team, ensuring fleet reliability, and managing preventative maintenance programmes in line with company standards. It is ideal for experienced diesel mechanics with strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate the maintenance team
  • Manage and allocate work to mechanical contractors
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules
  • Handle breakdowns and unscheduled repairs
  • Provide on-road support when required
  • Analyse driver report sheets
  • Manage fleet servicing and maintenance programmes
  • Oversee workshop administration and facilities maintenance
  • Monitor fuel levels and workshop operations
  • Provide solutions to mechanical failures
  • Maintain safety standards and investigate incidents
  • Attend safety meetings and ensure compliance
  • Handle workshop-related queries
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Qualified Diesel Mechanic (essential)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience
  • Experience in a supervisory role (advantageous)
  • Computer literacy (MS Teams)
  • Experience with European vehicles (e.g. MAN, Mercedes-Benz)
  • Experience with trailer equipment (BPW, Jost, Thermo King fridges, tail lifts)
